With the summer months upon us, the weather has gotten hot. It’s very common during this time that we, as humans, tend to get a little lazy.

This is the perfect time to use the pressure-free way of prospecting that I like to call, “just go visiting.” Leave your sales kit in the car. Guys, take off your tie. Simply grab some business cards, a few giveaway items and just start visiting. This approach tends to take the pressure off of you and the people you are visiting.

Successful sales results are built on relationship building. When you enter a new home, look around the room. It’s pretty easy to tell what that person’s interest are, and that’s what you want to start your conversation about. It may be grandkids (that one works every time), it may be their flowers in the front yard or in a vase, or it may be hunting or fishing-related items. Then just relax, visit and forget about sales.

As you visit and build a relationship with the person, they will eventually ask you about what you do as an agent for Security National. You may not make a sale off of every visit, but you might get a referral or worst-case scenario, you made a new friend. Give this approach a try! And good selling!
